At Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad, a pioneering AI-based tool for blood testing without needles has been introduced, marking a first for India.
Developed by the health-tech company Quick Vitals, this tool, named Amruth Swasth Bharath, was launched at the hospital’s Red Hills location.
It employs photoplethysmography (PPG), a method that analyzes health data via a face scan by measuring light absorption through the skin.
This innovative AI tool can assess metrics like blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, stress levels, blood sugar (HbA1c), and more, all without drawing blood.
It operates using just a smartphone or tablet camera and can also integrate with wearable devices for continuous monitoring.
Harish Bisam, the founder of Quick Vitals, described the testing process as “as easy as snapping a selfie,” highlighting its value in rural regions with limited lab facilities.
The app delivers results in under a minute and ensures data privacy by sharing information only with authorized healthcare professionals.
According to Niloufer Hospital’s doctors, this tool will be particularly advantageous for women and children, aiding in the early detection of conditions like anemia. Following its debut, Maharashtra is set to implement this tool next, broadening the reach of fast, non-invasive health testing across India.
