$TRUMP Token Falls Amid Controversial Gala
The $TRUMP token declined by 7% on Saturday morning, shortly after former President Donald Trump hosted a black-tie event at his Virginia golf club. The gathering was organized for holders of his meme coin, who collectively spent $148 million for the opportunity to attend.
Attendees were promised exclusivity, luxury, and direct interaction with Trump. Instead, they encountered subpar catering, inadequate security, and only a brief appearance by the former president. As reported by CNBC, the event left many guests frustrated, with several expressing outright dissatisfaction.
Approximately 220 guests were in attendance, including figures such as Sandy Carter of Unstoppable Domains and former NBA player Lamar Odom, who used the occasion to promote his own token, $ODOM. President Trump made a short speech and departed by helicopter without engaging with the majority of attendees.
Nicholas Pinto, a 25-year-old guest, remarked that Trump interacted with no more than 25 individuals. He noted limited beverage options—only Trump-branded wine and water—and said, “The food was disappointing.” Despite promises of a premium experience, many guests reported feeling overlooked.
Security reportedly diminished following Trump’s departure, and several attendees observed that phones were not secured in RFID pouches. “Once Trump left, security was no longer a priority,” Pinto commented. Wealth was visibly displayed, but interest in the token appeared to wane as many checked price fluctuations during dinner.
Outside the venue, approximately 100 protesters gathered, including Senator Jeff Merkley, advocating for the End Crypto Corruption Act, a bill intended to prohibit presidents and senior officials from profiting from crypto assets while in office.
Inside, Justin Sun, the largest $TRUMP holder with over $22 million invested, expressed his support for Trump via social media, despite ongoing SEC fraud charges against him.
