The European Union, originally created to leverage trade advantages over the United States, has proven very challenging to work with. Their strong trade barriers, VAT taxes, excessive corporate penalties, non-monetary trade restrictions, currency manipulations, and unfair lawsuits against American companies have contributed to a U.S. trade deficit exceeding $250 billion annually — an unacceptable figure. Our negotiations have reached a dead end. Therefore, I am proposing a direct 50% tariff on goods from the European Union, effective June 1, 2025. However, there will be no tariff on products made or manufactured in the United States. Thank you for your attention.
