Telegram’s Financial Surge: Profit Soars Amid Legal Scrutiny and Strategic AI Alliance
Telegram has reported a remarkable financial leap in 2024, with profits hitting $540 million and revenue surging to $1.4 billion—more than triple the previous year’s figures, according to PANews.
This growth comes as the platform navigates a formal investigation in France targeting founder Pavel Durov over alleged mishandling of criminal content. Durov has dismissed the probe as a politically motivated attack.
The company is looking to issue $1.5 billion in bonds to manage existing debt and potentially pave the way for a public listing. Notably, nearly half of Telegram’s revenue stems from its 'ecosystem cooperation'—a burgeoning segment tied to TON blockchain-based mini-apps and Toncoin transactions.
Advertising and subscription services brought in $250 million and $292 million, respectively.
Looking ahead, Telegram is targeting $2 billion in revenue and $720 million in profit for 2025. Meanwhile, a new partnership with Elon Musk’s xAI is set to bring the Grok chatbot to the platform, signaling Telegram’s expanding role in the AI space.
