On this day in 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer from Florida, paid 10,000 BTC for two Papa John's pizzas. At the time, the bitcoins were worth about $41. The recipient of the 10,000 BTC was Jeremy Sturdivant, who facilitated the pizza purchase. Over time, the value of those bitcoins has skyrocketed.
