• The new FIFA blockchain will be built on the Avalanche architecture.

  • The network will provide seamless integration with EVM-compatible solutions and offer room for future growth.

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has teamed up with Avalanche developers as part of a project to launch its own L1 blockchain. This includes, among other things, the migration of the FIFA Collect NFT platform to the new ecosystem.

FIFA is not just adapting to Web3. It is going "full throttle." Using a customized Layer 1 network based on the Avalanche stack, it aims to unify its digital strategy in the area of collectibles, ticket sales, and more," stated an announcement on Avalanche's official page.

The project team hinted that "this is just the beginning." In addition to the migration of FIFA Collect, other business cases are expected, but no details are available at the time of writing.

"Avalanche is designed for enterprises and organizations looking to create custom high-performance blockchain solutions. FIFA's decision to launch L1 on Avalanche is a testament to our technology's ability to support globally scaled applications with high speed, flexibility, and security," said Ava Labs studio representative John Nahas in a comment to CoinDesk.

Head of Modex and FIFA Collect projects Francesco Abbate noted that the partnership lays the groundwork for future growth. It will also ensure seamless integration of both the NFT platform and other projects with EVM-compatible solutions.

Let us remind you that in December 2024, the Avalanche9000 upgrade was deployed in this ecosystem. The upgrade aims to simplify the launch of L1 networks through a ready-made architecture.

FIFA announced plans to launch its own blockchain by the end of April 2025. The network is set to replace Algorand, on which the NFT platform was initially launched.
