The opening of the Bollinger Bands after a long period of contraction is a precursor to the beginning of a new wave of market activity. However, the opening of the Bollinger Bands cannot expand indefinitely, and the market cannot rise forever. When the price reaches its peak, the opening of the Bollinger Bands cannot continue to expand, and if both the upper and lower bands start to contract, it may indicate the end of a market wave.
When the Bollinger Bands contract to the extreme and there are two instances of the price breaking below the middle band, it is time to reduce or even close out the long positions held.
