Early Life and Education: Changpeng Zhao was born in Jiangsu Province, China, in 1977. In the late 1980s (when he was about 12 years old), he immigrated with his family to Canada and settled in Vancouver. His father was a university professor in China before being described as "pro-bourgeois" and being exiled. During his teenage years in Canada, CZ worked multiple jobs to help his family, including working at McDonald's and a gas station. He attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he majored in computer science.
