I once lost $100,000 in three months due to incorrect trading methods. This experience made me deeply realize that successful trading is not about predicting the market, but about managing risks.
The three fatal mistakes in trading are: heavily leveraged operations in altcoins, continuously adding positions to average down during losses, and taking profits too early while holding onto losses. These behaviors often lead to rapid account depletion.
After changing my strategy, I established new trading principles. First, strictly control the initial position, limiting each trade amount to 5%-10% of total capital. At the same time, set a 3% stop-loss line, executed automatically with conditional orders to avoid emotional decision-making.
The adding position strategy uses profit reinvestment. When the first order profits 20%, add 1.5 times the profit; when it profits 50%, add 2 times the profit; when profits reach 100% and the trend is clear, consider fully following up. This gradual position increase can effectively control risks.
Trailing stop-loss is key to protecting profits. For every 10% profit, move the stop-loss line up by 7%; in highly volatile markets, for every 5% profit, move the stop-loss line up by 4%. Once the price falls below the dynamic stop-loss line, close the position immediately.
A strict risk control system is essential. I set a trading schedule, avoiding high-risk periods such as Friday evenings and Chinese holidays. At the same time, I established a blacklist of cryptocurrencies, excluding altcoins with a market cap below $100 million and old coins that have been around for more than 3 months.
Even the best strategies require strict execution; many people can profit from strategies but often lose due to violating discipline. The key to successful trading is not in technical analysis, but in risk control and psychological management.
