#Nasdaq100 Nasdaq Proposes Rule Change for iShares Ethereum Trust ETF to Allow Physical Ethereum Transactions

Nasdaq has submitted a proposal to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seeking a rule amendment for the iShares Ethereum Trust. The proposed change aims to allow the trust to support physical transactions of Ethereum, enabling authorized participants to deliver and receive actual Ethereum instead of relying solely on cash transactions. This move is intended to increase the operational efficiency and transparency of the ETF.

As part of the proposal, Anchorage Digital is expected to serve as the custodian responsible for securely holding the Ethereum assets. In addition, the trust’s name will be updated to iShares Ethereum Trust ETF, aligning it with its official registration statement.

This development comes amid growing institutional interest in Ethereum-based financial products. If approved, the rule change could pave the way for broader adoption of physically-backed crypto ETFs in the U.S. The SEC is currently reviewing Nasdaq’s application.
