The Pentagon accepted a ‘Boeing’ gifted by Qatar for Trump.
💬 "Defense Secretary [Pete Hegseth] accepted a Boeing 747 from Qatar in accordance with all federal rules and regulations," said the spokesperson for the U.S. military department.
The White House stated that during Trump's presidency, the plane will be used as a presidential liner. After Trump leaves office, the plane will be transferred to his presidential library, so he can continue to use it. The administration insists that this is legal.
Critics of the administration doubt this and emphasize that the U.S. Constitution explicitly states that the president cannot accept gifts from foreign powers without the consent of Congress. The plane's value is estimated at 400 million dollars.
Additionally, extensive modifications will be required to outfit the plane for the president's needs, which could also take years and millions of dollars.
