In a surprising move that shakes the Chinese commodity trading market, Chinese billionaire Biyan Shi Ming has entered into a massive bet on copper, valued at about one billion dollars, thereby becoming the largest speculator on this copper.
Biyan Shi Ming, who made his first fortune from the plastic pipe industry, had caught attention with his successful investment in Chinese gold futures contracts over the past two years. At that time, he bet on a global trend to reduce reliance on the dollar and to confront inflation fears, earning profits estimated at about 1.5 billion dollars.
Today, his company Zhongcai Futures controls the largest net long position in copper contracts on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, holding nearly 90,000 tons of contracts. It is said that Biyan (61 years old) finances the majority of these investments himself, despite some investors withdrawing due to geopolitical uncertainty.
