#ElonMuskTalks

Elon Musk said he does not rule out merging his AI startup X AI with Tesla, the electric car manufacturer.

Musk responded in an interview with David Faber, host of CNBC, when asked if Musk would consider merging X AI with Tesla as a way to gain more control over the electric car company: "Well, I think anything is possible."

Musk added: "There are no plans to do that, it is not out of the question, but it requires the support of Tesla shareholders."

Elon Musk launched X AI as a startup in 2023, and the company acquired the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, in an all-stock deal last March, with X AI valued at around $80 billion and the X platform valued at about $33 billion. The intelligent chatbot Grok has also been defined on the X platform, having been partially trained on data from the social media platform.

Elon Musk stated that his companies Tesla and X AI will continue to obtain artificial intelligence chips from Nvidia and AMD, noting that his AI company has deployed 200,000 graphics processing units at its Colossus factory in Memphis, and plans to establish a nearby site housing one million graphics processing units, but he did not disclose any specific chip orders.

X AI is also spending at least $400 million to build a supercomputer in Memphis, and may face difficulties as the city's power grid may not yet be able to support a project of this scale.
