A tourist from the USA reported that he had $123,000 worth of Bitcoin and XRP stolen after a fake Uber ride in London

A tourist from the USA lost over $123,000 in cryptocurrency after becoming a victim of an alleged deliberate theft in London's West End following a night out and a brief stay in the city. Jacob Irwin-Klein from Portland, Oregon, was on a two-day business trip when he called for an Uber around 1:30 AM on May 9 after leaving the nightclub The Roxy in Soho.

According to police, a driver who recognized his name in the app intercepted him, according to an initial report by local media MiLondon. Surveillance footage from the nightclub, which Irwin-Klein later requested, shows him getting into a dark sedan instead of a Toyota Prius as indicated in the Uber app.

"The guy seemed very calm, very nice," Irwin-Klein told me. The driver then offered him a cigarette that allegedly contained scopolamine - a sedative that causes loss of consciousness while allowing the victim to remain awake and susceptible to suggestion.
