JAVIER MILEI CLOSES INVESTIGATION ON THE MEMECOIN LIBRA.
In a move that has generated controversy, the government of Javier Milei has dissolved the Task Force Unit (UTI) created to investigate the allegations regarding the memecoin "$LIBRA", officially closing the case. This decision, formalized in the Official Bulletin, comes after a scandal that affected thousands of investors and created a strong uproar in the political and crypto spheres.
The memecoin $LIBRA, initially promoted by President Milei himself on his social media, suffered a sudden collapse in its value, leaving many users with significant losses. The affected parties described the incident as a possible "rug pull", a scam in which the creators of a crypto project abandon it after raising funds.
Although the UTI was established to gather information on the case, no official reports with its conclusions have been published, nor has the identity of the original developers of $LIBRA or potential ties to government officials been revealed. The government argues that the information collected has already been forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office and that the unit fulfilled its task.
This measure has been criticized by the opposition, which sought the activation of an investigative commission in Congress. President Milei's credibility has also been affected internally, with polls indicating a loss of trust due to his role in the scandal. Meanwhile, lawsuits against Milei regarding the $LIBRA case are spreading across several countries, suggesting that despite the government's decision, the matter may not be completely closed.
