This proposal is being taken more seriously by the community

The idea of redefining the base unit of Bitcoin has been discussed for several years. It likely made its way into the BIPs last December with BIP 177, proposed by John Carvalho, CEO of Synonym, the company behind the BitKit wallet.

In recent days, Carvalho's proposal has resurfaced, particularly thanks to several shares from Jack Dorsey, founder of Twitter and an engaged participant in the development of the Bitcoin ecosystem.
