《Is there another wave for MapleStory?》
Since the service opened on May 12, MapleStory has attracted a large number of players. According to the official announcement, the daily trading volume exceeded 150,000 transactions during the initial activities of the game, peaking at 846,414 transactions.
On the day of the server launch, there were more players than monsters in the beginner village, and the currency price surged to $3.5 in a FOMO frenzy. Now, a week later, the currency price has dropped below $1.85, nearly halving from its peak.
So how is the gold farming efficiency now? Are there still so many people playing?
I asked some friends who have been grinding since the server opened and compiled some information for your reference:
1. Currently, besides the old players from the closed beta who have retained their accounts, new players are still working hard to level up (average level 110), and there’s basically no gold to farm before level 70. Even for max-level veteran players, the gold farming rewards are a bit underwhelming compared to the former GameFi kings.
Currently, MapleStory's income mechanism: High-level players (level 70 and above can farm) fight bosses (the drop of boss equipment is unstable; the higher the level, the more valuable the dropped equipment).
The nesos dropped from monsters: nxpc exchange rate is 100,000:1 (earning about 4 a day for 24 hours).
At higher levels, after defeating a boss, players can participate in a lottery; winning is related to their level, the higher the level, the more valuable the dropped equipment, ranging from $4 to over a thousand dollars.
However, the probability of winning for players below level 125 is very low. My younger brother has been playing for so many days and hasn't earned a single cent, relying solely on expectations to keep going 🤣🤣🤣
2. New players can play without spending money; it seems that spending or not spending has not significantly affected the disparity.
3. The game feels more like a Web2 game rather than a game specifically designed for Web3 like Big Time; the mechanics are more like traditional game developers with a few Web3 elements added, and the mechanism is not considered a Ponzi scheme.
Of course, we should also see some possibilities: the game's mechanics can be changed. For example, today's announcement from MapleStory is about changing the algorithm; who knows when they might have a breakthrough for big earnings?
Most of the players who continue grinding are betting on big returns after the Reactor starts and the optimization of the mechanics.
As my younger brother put it:
Currently, poor gold farming returns are actually a good thing for new players because if the old accounts were yielding good returns, competition for new players would be more intense, and the selling pressure would also increase.
So, will you bet on $NXPC?
