#ChainlinkUpdate

Chainlink ($LINK) announced today the official launch of a Cross Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) on the Solana (SOL) mainnet. The announcement was made via an official press release from the developers of the Chainlink network, the twelfth largest cryptocurrency on the planet by market value.

This is the first non-EVM blockchain to receive the CCIP update, establishing a new standard for communication between different blockchains. Thus, CCIP already supports over 57 blockchains and allows for the secure transfer of values and data between EVM and SVM ecosystems.

With this new feature, some projects will be able to expand their tokens compatible with the new interoperability mechanism between networks for the Solana ecosystem, using the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. Among those already in the project and those who have signaled their intention to enter the development of the protocol are names like Shiba Inu, ElizaOS, The Graph, and Pepe, in addition to other lesser-known names such as Solv, Backed Finance, Maple Finance, and Zeus Network.

It is worth remembering that Solana is already connected to networks such as Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Optimism, and Sonic via CCIP, with more integrations planned.

This integration could unlock over $19 billion in value for the DeFi ecosystem.
