Ethereum and Altcoins Poised for a Breakout, Say Industry Insiders
In a recent discussion, Real Vision CEO Raoul Pal and Rekt cofounder OSF shared bold insights into the future of crypto, suggesting the next 12 to 18 months could bring dramatic shifts across the market. At the center of it all? Ethereum.
“I think ETH is going to surprise a lot of people. It’s set to take off in a big way,” Pal said, suggesting that Ethereum might be on the verge of a major move that could define the next market phase.
And just as interest in Ethereum intensifies, an unexpected name has entered the conversation—Donald Trump. On-chain data reveals that the former U.S. president, once a vocal critic of crypto, now holds over $500 million in Ethereum across his wallets. The irony hasn’t gone unnoticed, as the man who once called crypto a “disaster” is now one of ETH’s largest holders.
OSF, a veteran observer of the crypto landscape since the 2020 DeFi surge, pointed to a bigger story playing out.
“Crypto isn’t just about Bitcoin anymore. It’s evolving into a full-fledged asset class on a global scale,” he said.
Unlike the dot-com era, which was largely limited to U.S. investors, today’s crypto market is global and permissionless. That universal access is a key driver behind its explosive adoption, and OSF believes altcoins are finally catching up to the momentum.
“There are now a ton of strong altcoin projects out there,” he noted. “And buyers from every part of the world are getting involved.”
Pal agreed, suggesting this cycle is unique—driven by global macro conditions, clearer regulations, and increased institutional engagement, all coinciding with a more mature altcoin landscape.
The sentiment was echoed by popular YouTube channel Altcoin Daily. In a recently released video, host Aaron Arnold passionately endorsed Ethereum and altcoins as prime investment opportunities.
“I’ve been in crypto full-time for over seven years,” Arnold said. “Most people don’t understand this space. I do. And I’m telling you—Ethereum and top-tier altcoins are where the action is.”
He also cautioned viewers that the next market cycle won’t mirror the 2021 bull run.
“If you're expecting the same playbook, you're going to miss the mark,” he warned, urging investors to adapt to what’s coming.
Ethereum is once again stepping into the limelight—not just as a technical platform, but as a key macro investment. With institutional interest rising, an upcoming upgrade (Dencun), and even an unexpected narrative linked to Trump, ETH is gaining momentum fast.
Layer 2 development, the tokenization of real-world assets, and Ethereum’s growing role in decentralized finance for institutions all point toward an altcoin market that could be on the brink of explosive growth.
Between Raoul Pal’s bullish outlook, Trump’s surprising ETH holdings, and an increasing number of voices championing altcoins, the message is becoming clear: the next altcoin season may not be on the way—it may already be in motion.
And if Ethereum does lead this next leg of the cycle, many investors could soon find themselves racing to catch up.
