【Zhejiang has cracked a digital currency extortion case, with an amount involved exceeding 330,000 yuan】According to reports from Jinse Finance and Xinhua News Agency, the People's Court of Shangcheng District in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province recently made a first-instance judgment on a digital currency extortion case. Four former cybersecurity engineers used Trojan viruses to invade enterprise server systems, extorting the victimized enterprises to pay digital currency as "ransom", with the amount involved reaching over 330,000 yuan. The court's judgment shows that the criminal group implemented extortion against three enterprises in the Hangzhou area at the end of 2023, including a medical institution, whose system was locked with encryption, forcing them to purchase digital currency through a third party to pay the ransom. The four defendants were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from three years to seven years and six months.
