Arrest of Vladimir Smerkis: On May 18, 2025, Smerkis, the former head of Binance in the CIS and co-founder of Blum, was arrested in Moscow on charges of fraud on a large scale. The case is reportedly linked to his previous projects (the TKN and TBX crowdsales), rather than directly to Blum, but it has heightened distrust in the project. The day before the arrest, the Blum team announced that Smerkis was no longer the marketing director and was not involved in the project, which seems like an attempt to distance themselves from the scandal.
