Australian Man Has Mansion, Luxury Car, and 25 BTC Seized
A man in Queensland, Australia, has had assets worth over USD 2.9 million seized, including a riverside mansion, a Mercedes-Benz, and nearly 25 Bitcoin (estimated at around USD 2.6 million).
The investigation was carried out by the Criminal Assets Confiscation Taskforce (CACT) under the Australian Federal Police, following a tip-off from AUSTRAC triggered by suspicious Bitcoin transactions flagged by Luxembourg authorities. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, had previously been convicted for hacking a U.S.-based gaming company and is suspected of involvement in the theft of 950 BTC from a French crypto exchange back in 2013.
