#⛔️🇺🇸 **Coinbase sued for collecting biometric data**
A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase in Illinois. They are accused of violating the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
The exchange collected facial biometric data (faceprints) as part of the KYC procedure without informing users of the purposes, storage periods, and without their written consent.
The data was shared with third-party contractors (Jumio, Onfido, Au10tix, etc.) without permission.
