Foresight News reports that Coinbase is facing a lawsuit for allegedly violating the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). Three plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in federal court on May 13, claiming that Coinbase's practice of 'mass collecting' facial fingerprints to meet KYC requirements violates BIPA. 'Coinbase did not notify users in writing about the collection, storage, or sharing of their biometric data, as well as the purposes and retention schedule of the data.'
