U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the U.S. does not want to completely separate from China; on the contrary, President Trump wants to open the Chinese market for business.

However, during the COVID pandemic, the U.S. realized the shortage of important strategic products such as medications, semiconductors, steel, etc. Therefore, the medium and long-term goal is to bring these strategic industries back to the U.S. as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, the U.S. will still maintain trade with China, especially for goods serving small businesses, with lower tariffs.
