The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a split: Bitcoin surges while altcoins continue to languish.

Recently, the market has been quite divided - on one side, Bitcoin is stirring, poised to challenge new highs; on the other side, altcoins are becoming increasingly sluggish. The Altcoin Season Index, which represents the popularity of altcoins, has dropped again, sliding from an early May rebound high of 43 down to the current 24.

In fact, this index has been on a downward trend since it peaked at an annual high of 87 on December 4 of last year, plummeting to as low as 13 at its worst point. Though there was a slight rebound in May, it couldn't hold, and now it's starting to decline again.

In summary: Bitcoin is leading the surge, while altcoins are lying flat; those hoping for an 'altcoin season' may have to wait a bit longer.
