30-year-old Canadian blockchain specialist Gerald Cotten suddenly died during a visit to India, and hundreds of millions of dollars in investment funds disappeared.

The Canadian cryptocurrency exchange stated that it could not return at least 250 million dollars to clients after its CEO suddenly died during a visit to India. The company Quadriga CX stated in court documents that CEO Cotten was the only person who knew the security keys and passwords needed to access the funds.

The collapse of the cryptocurrency trading platform QuadrigaCX was the result of fraud committed by co-founder and CEO Gerald Cotten. Clients entrusted their assets to Quadriga, which gave false assurances that these assets would be protected. In reality, Cotten was spending, trading, and using these assets at his discretion. Operating without any proper control systems, Cotten was able to abuse clients' assets for luxury, uncontrollably and unnoticed, ultimately destroying the entire platform.
