The founder of Bitcoin is considered to be a person (or group of people) under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Their true identity is still unknown.
Satoshi Nakamoto published the Bitcoin white paper - 'Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System' - in October 2008 and released the first version of the software in January 2009. He was actively involved in the development of the network until 2010, after which he ceased communication with the community and vanished from the public space. There are many theories about who Satoshi Nakamoto could be - candidates such as Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, Dorian Nakamoto, and even Elon Musk have been proposed, but none of the hypotheses have been convincingly proven.
Interesting details:
Finney and Szabo are the most likely candidates, although they deny it themselves.
Craig Wright is the most controversial candidate, he is involved in legal battles trying to legally secure the name 'Satoshi' for himself.
The real Satoshi has not published anything since 2010, and his Bitcoin wallets (with over 1 million BTC) are still untouched - this is the main 'argument of silence'.
