Ethereum Foundation Launches ‘Trillion Dollar Security’ Initiative

May 18, 2025 — The Ethereum Foundation has launched the Trillion Dollar Security (1TS) Initiative, a bold new program aimed at strengthening the Ethereum blockchain's resilience. Announced on May 14, the initiative is designed to prepare Ethereum for managing trillions in value and serving billions of users.

The 1TS Initiative includes three core phases:

1. Comprehensive Risk Assessment: A full audit of the ecosystem to identify vulnerabilities in smart contracts, wallet interfaces, consensus mechanisms, and internet routing.

2. Targeted Remediation: Security upgrades will be implemented based on audit findings. These include improved wallet features, smarter development tools, and core infrastructure enhancements.

3. Enhanced Safety Communication: The Foundation will release educational resources to inform users, developers, and institutions on safe practices and Ethereum’s security measures.

Led by Fredrik Svantes and Josh Stark, the initiative also includes experts like Samczsun, Mehdi Zerouali, and Zach Obront. Their combined experience reinforces the Foundation’s deep commitment to safety.

The 1TS Initiative represents a major step in Ethereum's transformation into a secure, global financial infrastructure—highlighting that as Ethereum scales, so too must its security measures.$ETH
