Binance and Kraken fend off social-engineering hacks -

Bloomberg

nvesting.com -- Major crypto exchanges, Binance and Kraken, reportedly deflected the same type of social-engineering hack that was recently exposed by Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN)

Inc. This information comes from Bloomberg, citing sources who wished to remain anonymous.

Both digital asset platforms succeeded in repelling the attacks, ensuring no customer data was lost, as per the sources. Representatives from Binance and Kraken have refrained from

commenting on the matter related to cybersecurity.

Cyber criminals have consistently targeted crypto companies and market participants since the inception of the industry over a decade ago. The number of attacks often increases with a surge in the value of digital currencies, as has been the case recently. Numerous exchanges, including Bybit, Bitfinex, and FTX, have lost billions to hackers over the years.

Binance and Kraken experienced attacks similar to the one Coinbase faced. However, their internal policies and technologies successfully thwarted the attacks, the sources added. Binance reportedly encountered scammers attempting to bribe its customer-service agents, and a Telegram handle was provided for contacting the offender, according to one of the sources.
