Ethereum launches a new security initiative

The Billion Dollar Security Initiative will focus on improving wallet security, smart contract security, and the user experience for developers.

The Ethereum Foundation has launched the Billion Dollar Security Initiative to reinforce security across its network. The project aims to enhance user experience, wallet protection, smart contract security, and infrastructure resilience.

It is led by Fredrik Svantes and Josh Stark, with support from ecosystem experts samczsun, Medhi Zerouali, and Zach Obront.

Ethereum remains the leading platform in decentralized finance (DeFi), with a total value locked between 50% and 60% across its blockchains, with nearly $80 billion by mid-May. The Foundation emphasizes that billions of users collectively manage trillions of dollars on the Ethereum network.

The recent Pectra update from Ethereum, the most significant since The Merge, has introduced key enhancements including external smart contract accounts, higher staking limits, and data blobs per block.
