Odaily Planet Daily News: Filecoin Foundation and Lockheed Martin Space have announced the successful realization of data transmission in space using a version of the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). The testing was conducted on a satellite orbiting the Earth. Marta Belcher, Chair of Filecoin Foundation, stated that IPFS can effectively reduce delays in space data transmission by addressing content and retrieving data from the nearest copies. Additionally, the distributed architecture of IPFS helps handle data corruption caused by radiation and ensures data integrity through cryptographic verification, which is crucial for data reliability in the space environment.
