In a post on the Binance platform, the Ethereum Foundation announced the launch of the first "Attack" (Attackathon) aimed at enhancing the security of the Ethereum protocol. This event is considered a community challenge aimed at uncovering security vulnerabilities in the protocol, with prizes of up to $1.5 million offered to participants who discover these vulnerabilities.
This event will be held in collaboration with the security platform "Immunefi" and will start on November 25, 2024, and continue until January 20, 2025. The event will include an educational phase featuring live and recorded technical sessions from Immunefi Academy, aimed at equipping participants to thoroughly assess the protocol. Participants' prizes will be determined based on the significance of the threats they discover and how well they align with the competition rules. At the end of the event, Immunefi will issue a report summarizing the results and highlighting outstanding participants.
The Ethereum Foundation aims through this event to enhance the security of the network, knowing that many prominent projects such as Arbitrum, Wormhole, The Graph, GMX, and Base have participated in sponsoring this event. Additionally, the foundation announced the opening of positions for security engineers in the protocol security research team.
