#EthereumSecurityInitiative Ethereum Security Initiative: Trillion Dollar Security Initiative
The Ethereum Foundation has announced a new initiative called the Trillion Dollar Security Initiative (1TS) – which means "Trillion Dollar Security Initiative". Its goal is to strengthen the security of the entire Ethereum ecosystem so that it can safely handle assets worth trillions of dollars.
Main goals of the initiative
1. Threat identification
Ethereum will conduct a detailed security analysis – from wallets and smart contracts to infrastructure and user experiences. The Ethereum community will also be involved in this process.
2. Targeted remediation actions
Based on identified vulnerabilities, specific fixes will be implemented. The aim is to enhance security without degrading the usability or decentralization of the network.
3. Education and communication
Ethereum plans to publish reports, educational resources, and conduct informational activities to raise awareness of threats and best practices among users, developers, and regulators.
Who is behind this?
The initiative is led by Fredrik Svantes (head of protocol security research) and Josh Stark from the Ethereum Foundation board. They are supported by well-known industry experts, including samczsun (Security Alliance), Mehdi Zerouali (Sigma Prime), and Zach Obront (Etherealize).
"Attackathon" – public security audit
As part of the initiative, an Attackathon has been launched, which is an open competition for finding bugs in the Ethereum protocol, organized in collaboration with Immunefi. Up to $1.5 million is up for grabs for those who find and report critical security vulnerabilities. This also serves as a form of training for future blockchain security experts.
