$USDC
$USDC USDC (USD Coin) is a stablecoin with a 1:1 parity with the US dollar. Its market capitalization is around $60 billion. Data from August 2024 indicated that it surpassed Tether (USDT) in transaction volume. Each USDC is backed by reserves of cash and equivalents, including U.S. Treasury bonds, held in regulated institutions. Circle publishes monthly certifications of its reserves.
USDC has wide adoption in DeFi, payments, and commerce across multiple blockchains. Visa has also integrated it. In July 2024, Circle was the first global issuer to comply with MiCA (EU). In the U.S., it is registered with FinCEN.
In April 2025, it launched its "Payments Network" for cross-border payments. In March 2025, ICE and Circle explored products based on USDC and EURC. Its focus on regulation and transparency aims to consolidate its position in the stablecoin market.
