Binance Pizza: The Man Who Traded Bitcoin for Two Pizzas

Back when people didn’t know much about cryptocurrency, there was a man named Laszlo Hanyecz. He was a regular guy who believed strongly in Bitcoin. On May 22, 2010, Laszlo was hungry—not just for pizza, but to show that Bitcoin could be used like real money.

He posted on a website: “I’ll give 10,000 Bitcoins for two large pizzas.” At the time, those Bitcoins were worth only about $41. A man from the UK agreed and ordered Laszlo two pizzas from Papa John’s. Laszlo got his food, and this became the first time Bitcoin was used to buy something in the real world. That day is now called Bitcoin Pizza Day.

But the story didn’t end there.

As Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies became more popular, a fun pizza place called Binnance Pizza was created. The name is a playful mix of Binance (a big crypto exchange) and “pizza.” This pizzeria only accepts cryptocurrency like $BTC

Bitcoin, $ETH

Ethereum, or Dogecoin. Each pizza comes with a QR code so you can tip the chef in crypto.
