According to PANews, South Korean actress Hwang Jung-eum has been charged with misappropriating funds from her talent agency, which she controls, to invest in cryptocurrency. The Jeju District Court held the first public hearing on May 15, 2025, regarding the case.
The indictment reveals that between early 2022 and December of the same year, Hwang diverted a total of 4.34 billion Korean won from the company, with 4.2 billion won allocated to cryptocurrency investments.
Hwang's legal representative acknowledged the charges, stating that the investments were made with the intention of developing the company, emphasizing that the profits would ultimately benefit Hwang. Currently, Hwang is working to repay some of the losses by selling cryptocurrency and planning to sell real estate. The court has accepted the request to proceed with the compensation-related procedures.
