PANews, May 15 - According to South Korean media reports, actress Hwang Jung-eum has been sued for allegedly misappropriating funds from her actual controlling management company to invest in cryptocurrency. On May 15, the Jeju District Court held the first public hearing for this case. According to the indictment, Hwang Jung-eum misappropriated a total of 4.34 billion won in company funds from early 2022 to December, of which 4.2 billion won was used for cryptocurrency investment.

Lawyer of Hwang Jung-eum admitted the charges, stating that she invested in cryptocurrency for the purpose of developing the company, and emphasized that the company's profits ultimately belong to Hwang Jung-eum. Currently, Hwang Jung-eum has repaid part of the losses by selling cryptocurrency and planning to sell real estate. The court accepted the request, allowing the compensation-related procedures to continue.
