Trump’s tariff policy is back in the spotlight

As the American elections approach, the discussion has intensified regarding Donald Trump's intention – if he returns to the presidency – to reimpose high tariffs on several countries, primarily China. The stated goal is to protect the American economy and local industries, and to encourage the return of manufacturing to the country, while some believe it could lead to a new trade war and rising prices of goods.

Trump proposes imposing a tariff of up to 10% on imports, and 60% on Chinese goods, considering it a necessary step to achieve "economic independence".
