The Russian Federation may lose more than 50% of taxi drivers due to the requirement to switch to Russian cars
In Russia, the number of taxi drivers may decrease by 51%, or by 507,000 people, if the State Duma of the Russian Federation passes a bill that requires the use of only cars assembled in Russia for the transportation of citizens.
According to analysts' calculations, up to 89.5% of drivers with part-time employment using their own cars may leave the taxi industry, and 35.6% of those working with rented cars full-time may also leave. Among taxi drivers who are fully employed with their own vehicles, 15.2% of market participants may exit the industry.
The total lost income for drivers when aligning the taxi fleet with the new requirements could amount to up to 289 billion rubles.
