The President of the USA, Donald Trump, signed an order to reduce the customs duty on cheap Chinese goods from 120% to 54% starting from May 14, 2025 (this applies to goods from Temu and Shein).

The new rules pertain to the "di minimis" scheme, which previously allowed the import of goods valued up to 800$ without customs duties and with minimal checks. More than 90% of postal packages in the USA arrive through "di minimis", of which 60% are from China.
