Tether acquired 4,812.2 BTC worth $458.7 million and transferred them to the escrow wallet of the investment crypto company Twenty One Capital. This information appeared in a filing by Cantor Equity Partners, which the organization submitted to the SEC.
With the new purchase, Twenty One Capital has accumulated 36,312 BTC. The company purchased cryptocurrency amid the completion of a SPAC merger with Cantor Equity Partners, which holds 31,500 BTC. CEO of Twenty One, Jack Mallers, confirmed that the approval process is already underway, but exact timelines have not been disclosed. Upon completion of the merger, shares of Twenty One Capital will appear on the exchange under the ticker XXI.
Twenty One Capital ranks third among corporate Bitcoin holders, trailing only MicroStrategy (Strategy) and MARA Holdings. Tether remains the main shareholder of the company, alongside Bitfinex.
