In Belarus, a resident of Grodno received 13 years in prison for extortion and robbery related to cryptocurrency. The criminals demanded the transfer of 5750 bitcoins worth more than 1 billion Belarusian rubles. The victim refused to comply with the demands, and the criminals fled; however, one of them was apprehended. The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 13 years in a correctional facility and a fine. New cases of cryptocurrency extortion involving violence are occurring around the world: in the USA, teenagers kidnapped a person demanding $4 million, and in France, the father of a crypto-millionaire was kidnapped, with a ransom demand of up to €7 million.
