Transaction volume refers to the specific number of transactions within a certain period, and it is also a manifestation of supply and demand. When demand exceeds supply, crowds surge, and everyone wants to buy, thus transaction volume naturally increases; conversely, when supply exceeds demand, the market becomes quiet with few buyers, and transaction volume is bound to shrink.
Quantifying the crowd results in transaction volume. In a broad sense, transaction volume includes the number of shares traded, transaction amount, and turnover rate; in a narrow sense, and most commonly, it refers only to the number of shares traded.
Transaction volume can be plotted on intraday charts, daily charts, weekly charts, and even monthly charts.
The domestic A-share market is a capital-driven market, and changes in market transaction volume reflect the flow of capital in and out of the market. Transaction volume is an important indicator for judging market trends, but in mature foreign markets, transaction volume is mainly used to confirm market trends.
