China approaches LATAM and offers USD 9.2 billion in credits

China will provide 9.2 billion dollars in credits to the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean for regional development, announced its president Xi Jinping on Tuesday (May 13, 2025) at the inauguration of the IV China-Celac Ministerial Forum in Beijing.

"To support the development of Latin American and Caribbean countries, China will supply 66 billion yuan (9.2 billion dollars) in credits," the Asian leader assured.

"Only through unity and cooperation can countries guarantee global peace and stability and promote global development and prosperity," he stated.

Xi also advocated for strengthening relations with Latin America and the Caribbean in times of "geopolitical confrontation" and "protectionism" during the inauguration of the ministerial forum.
