US Core Inflation Unchanged from 4-Year low
The annual rate of US core consumer price inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, was 2.8% in April 2025, unchanged from March and in line with market expectations. The housing index, which accounts for more than two-thirds of the 12-month gain, was 4%, in line with March. Costs also increased for health care (1%), auto insurance (+6.4%), education (+3.8%) and leisure (+1.6%). On a monthly basis, core consumer prices rose 0.2% in April, compared with a 0.1% increase in March and slightly below market expectations for a 0.3% increase.
