The 25 highest-ranked holders have earned “VIP” status. This grants them access to an exclusive reception with the president and a special tour in addition to the dinner at Trump National Golf Club in Washington D.C.

These VIP holders maintained an average of $4.78 million worth of TRUMP tokens each during the qualification period. The amounts varied widely among participants, with the largest holder having tokens valued at more than $19 million.

Foreign Influence Concerns

A May 7 Bloomberg report suggested that the majority of token holders are based outside the United States. This has raised concerns about national security and potential conflicts of interest for the sitting president.

The dinner announcement has intensified criticism from lawmakers and figures in the crypto industry. Many have called for congressional oversight, with one senator even calling for Trump’s impeachment. Some representatives have refused to consider crypto-related legislation until their concerns are addressed.

Companies apparently seeking influence over Trump’s policies have also invested in the memecoin. In April, Freight Technologies announced a $20 million investment in the token. The company suggested that this could affect the president’s trade war between the U.S. and Mexico, where the firm conducts some of its business.

TRUMP Token and Future Plans

The TRUMP token’s price spiked when the dinner was first announced in April but has since declined. As of May 12, the price had fallen nearly 8% in 24 hours to $12.78.

To encourage holders to retain their tokens, the project has unveiled a new rewards program. Token holders who maintain their leaderboard balances until the May 22 dinner will receive a Solana NFT as a reward.

The project also announced the start of a “Trump rewards points program” with its own leaderboard and badges. Details about this program are expected to be revealed soon, with the “next era” for the token to be announced at the dinner.

Wallets with usernames “Sun” and “elon” have led to speculation that Tron founder Justin Sun and Tesla CEO Elon Musk could be among the attendees. Both are known Trump supporters with financial interests tied to the presidency.

The largest holder, registered as “Sun,” held around 1.4 million TRUMP tokens valued at more than $19 million when the snapshot was taken. There’s speculation this account belongs to billionaire Tron founder Justin Sun, who previously purchased $30 million worth of Trump-linked World Liberty Financial’s governance token.

When asked by the New York Times, a spokeswoman for Sun declined to comment on the matter.

Due to the time-weighted calculation method used for the leaderboard, some users qualified for VIP status despite selling their tokens before the final snapshot. Two users known as “Noah” and “Top” held at least 200,000 TRUMP tokens during the competition window but sold them in the last 10 days.

According to the terms and conditions, each invited guest must complete a background check to attend the dinner. The president’s attendance is not guaranteed. If he cannot attend or the event is canceled, attendees will receive a limited-edition Trump NFT instead.

This is not Trump’s first appeal to crypto users. During his 2024 campaign, he hosted a dinner with supporters who purchased his “mugshot” non-fungible tokens, which featured a picture of the then-presidential candidate at his surrender to authorities.

The president also spoke at a “$1.5 million-per-plate Crypto & AI Innovators Dinner” hosted by super PAC MAGA Inc. at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia on May 6. The event featured “crypto czar” David Sacks as a guest.

Watchdog group Accountable.US has called the TRUMP token leaderboard “the most nakedly corrupt self-enrichment scheme in U.S. presidential history.”
