Mentions of cryptocurrencies in SEC documents have reached a record level.
In April, the number of mentions of 'cryptocurrencies' in SEC reports surged to a record 786. On a monthly basis, this figure increased by 38%, and on a yearly basis, it rose by 8%, according to The Block.
From January 2024 to March 2025, the average monthly figure was 457.
According to the publication, this spike indicates increased attention from federal agencies towards digital assets. Journalists also noted efforts to clarify regulatory frameworks for the crypto industry.
In addition to cryptocurrencies, the number of references to stablecoins has also increased. If from January 2024 to January 2025 such tokens were mentioned on average 48 times per month, then from February to April 2025, they were mentioned 103 times — 81 in February, 124 in March, and 104 in April.
The growth of the indicator reflects heightened regulatory interest in the reserve standards of 'stable coins' and consumer protection. If these measures are formalized, trust will increase, and the adoption of cryptocurrencies will expand, The Block reported.
