#CryptoRoundTableRemarks Head of SEC Announces 'New Day' in Intent to Become 'Crypto Capital of the Planet'
Atkins opened the meeting, stating that the topic of discussion is relevant as 'securities are increasingly migrating from traditional (or 'offline') databases to blockchain-based (or 'online') accounting systems'.
The roundtable was the third in a series of four dedicated to the tokenization and transfer of traditional assets to blockchain.
Atkins announced a 'new day at the SEC', moving away from regulation by enforcement to creating clear regulatory frameworks through proper rule-making processes.
For the U.S. to become the 'crypto capital of the planet', the Commission must 'keep pace with innovation and consider whether regulatory changes are needed to accommodate securities on the blockchain and other crypto assets', he said.
