Metaplanet Increases Bitcoin Portfolio with Purchase of $126.7M
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has expanded its Bitcoin reserve with a new purchase of $126.7 million, increasing the company's total Bitcoin holdings to 6,796 BTC. CEO Simon Gerovich revealed the firm bought 1,271 BTC at a price of $102,119 per coin, bringing its total Bitcoin investment to approximately $608.2 million.
Metaplanet's recent accumulation strategy has seen significant progression, hitting a 170.0% BTC Yield year-to-date. To fund its Bitcoin strategy, Metaplanet has used bond issuance and stock acquisition rights. The company is currently 68% towards its 2025 goal of 10,000 BTC, with a broader ambition of accumulating 21,000 BTC.
This aggressive accumulation has led to comparisons with other companies, with some suggesting Metaplanet's approach is outperforming its rivals.
